Alta Mira Specialized Family Services Inc. has openings for Occupational Therapists (OT). The OT will work with our highly trained staff serving young children (0-3 yrs. old) with developmental risks, delays, and disabilities. Work in a family-centered program on consults & direct therapy in the child’s home. Bilingual English/Spanish is helpful but not required.
Position-Specific Essential Job Functions
Performs essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation at an acceptable level.
- Participate as a team member in initial and on-going developmental assessment activities with children in the areas of communication, play, cognition, fine and gross motor skills, adaptive behavior, and social/emotional skills.
- Administer, score, and interpret formal testing instruments as appropriate and summarize results of Individualized Family Service Plan’s (IFSP’s) in writing. Testing procedures are carried out accurately and reliably, and in a manner that is culturally, linguistically, and developmentally appropriate.
- Integrate informal assessment, behavioral observation, developmental history, and other professional assessment data with formal testing information to reflect a holistic view of the child and his/her needs.
- Carry out interview and assessment procedures in a child and family-sensitive manner.
- Collaborate with families and other staff during team assessments.
- Participate in planning an appropriate Early Intervention program for each child through the IFSP process (including the initial IFSP and subsequent reviews).
- Make recommendations to families and other team members regarding therapeutic and other developmental services needed to achieve IFSP outcomes.
- Design individualized goals and objectives with families so that they are developmentally appropriate, functional in nature, and related to on-going routines of the home, class and/or community.
- Complete IFSP and other paperwork required by (DOH) Part C accurately and in accordance with specified regulations and timelines.
- Implement developmentally appropriate Early Intervention services as specified through the collaborative planning process (IFSP).
- Build relationships with the child and family that support a working partnership to accomplish the IFSP goals.
- Integrate the family and child outcomes into the home, classroom, therapy room, Early Care and Education Centers, or community which support the family’s daily routine and natural environments.
- Facilitate collaboration with parents, teachers, and other professional staff through regular contact, paperwork (e.g. Contact logs), and designated team meetings.
- Integrate therapy (OT, PT, SLP), self-help, social, emotional, and cognitive goals and objectives into ongoing services. Function as a liaison between other therapists, developmental specialists, and families to help with the generalization and carryover of goals.
- Respond to family’s need for changes in their program (i.e., Placement changes, attendance, transportation, and other service delivery issues.)
- Provide documentation to support the continued need for therapy services in future program placement(s).
- Schedule, plan, and coordinate therapy activities.
- Monitor the child’s progress and/or effectiveness of the IFSP goals and objectives, specific to the area of therapeutic specialization.
- Submit accurate and complete screenings, assessments, contact logs, billing documentation, and other written information, as required, in accordance with the agency standards and schedule.
- Facilitate collaboration with parents, teachers, and other professional staff through regular contact, paperwork (e.g., therapy logs), and designated team meetings.
- Utilize and return in good condition, agency/program equipment, as needed.
- Adhere to established guidelines for billing and documentation.
- Supervise the process of evaluation and treatment services provided by practicum students and/or lower-level therapists, evaluate student performance, and provide guidance and feedback as appropriate to the development of clinical skills.
- Supervise individuals interested in short-term therapy observation.
- Serve as a mentor for individuals requiring support with discipline-specific skills and/or agency processes as assigned by the program director.
- Must be able to drive to and from home visits.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
