We are excited about GRO RH – Growing Alta Mira Specialized Family Service Inc.’s Respite Home!

Alta Mira’s Respite Home (RH), which we own and operate, is the only RH for the Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability (IDD) community in the state of New Mexico.

Over the last year, we have received grants from Wells Fargo for a rehab project and Rotary Del Norte. During the rehab and other much-needed improvements, including ADA accessibility, we were not at full operating capacity and operated under limited hours, including the number of individuals who stayed overnight.

By the completion of the repairs and rehab, we were able to purchase new flooring, beds, bed linens, indoor and outdoor furniture, a new stove and microwave, new bathroom and kitchen fixtures, and replace broken washer/dryer units. Though this is not the full list of items needed to complete the project – the investment in time, resources, and donations supports Alta Mira’s mission: Alta Mira Specialized Family Services Inc. supports individuals with intellectual/developmental risks, delays or disabilities and their families to optimize quality of life.

The impact of grant funds will provide RH access to individuals needing emergency respite and individuals currently receiving supports from Alta Mira’s Family Support Services (FSS) who are on a waitlist for Day Rehabilitation and overnight stays.
